Based on it’s strong presence & implementation expertise in Windchill for leading A&D customers, PTC has developed the Windchill Aerospace & Defense Module (WADM), to meet unique needs of the global aerospace & defense (A&D) industry, for traceability of highly complex product and program information across the Product/Program lifecycle.

PTC needed a partner with :

• Prior experience in Windchill & WADM implementation & development
• Expertise to work as an extension of the PTC R&D testing team
• Ability to build skill-sets & ramp-up a pool of engineer in a short time
• Ability to setup the extended R&D environment offshore, in a dedicated/secured environment
• Reduce the turn-around-time (TAT) for validation of customer reported product issues
• Leverage offshore cost arbitrage
• Provide an environment to test the product across multiple platforms (Windows & flavors of Unix)

ITC Infotech helped in testing the product using an onsite-offshore model. To ensure quality, defect free product, we carried out extensive testing of the WADM features as per the requirements design specification and test cases.

The Scope:

• A total of 32 Test modules have been executed from Offshore., with an effort of 100+ person-months with a peak team size of 15
• Plan & must release a WADM build on alternate week. This will include new functionality/feature
• Install and test in the specified environment
• Regression Testing - Analyze, identify, define & execute test cases
• Baselined test cases to validate future releases, to improve regression test time
• Documentation & archiving of Test Results for future traceability

• Faster technical acceptance test for PTC’s end customers due to increased per-day effort towards deliverable completion
• Reduced cycle time to validate issues, product releases, fixes – at least by 60%
• Ready to use dedicated/secured environment, helped PTC to quickly setup the extended offshore-environment, and realize offshoring benefits in a shorter duration
