Customer

The customer is the ninth largest bank in the world, the fourth largest in Europe and the biggest in the Euro zone by market capitalization.

Business Need

Due to business reasons, the customer wanted to relocate the Pensions application from one city to another city. In addition, to moving away from a legacy system implementation, the application had to be developed and implemented using J2EE on WebSphere, simultaneously moving the database to an IBM DB2 on OS/390 platform.

How We Helped

The online system was migrated to a web-based front-end system using a standard web browser (MS Internet Explorer) as customer.

The batch and reporting system was migrated to COBOL using embedded SQL and using JCL for job flow and control on IBM S/390 mainframe.

Business Benefits

	Technology Improvement: Prior to migration, the business users required multiple terminals, a PC and a Mainframe terminal to access the Application. Post the Migration; the application is hosted on the intranet making the access available only through PC.
	Process Improvement: In the Legacy system, the reports generated at one site took one day to reach users at the Head Office. Post the migration; the reports can be accessed immediately since all sites can access the new system via the company’s Intranet.
	The offshore execution model additionally provided the benefit of reduced cost of application development.
