Part life cycle development of broker based mortgage application

The client is the second largest mortgage service provider and sixth largest bank in the UK. The bank is part of the top 10 banking groups in the world and the group is ranked amongst the Fortune 100 companies. ITC Infotech operates a dedicated offshore development center (ODC) for the client since last 6 years.

Business Need

The client’s e-Commerce retail sales system is a windows-based application for intermediaries. This retail sales system is an interactive web site for mortgage applications, which enables introducers intermediaries) to take advantage of online Agreement in Principle (AIP), track the mortgage applications on-line and complete a Full Mortgage Application (FMA) on-line.

The project aims at providing online mortgage decisions, case tracking, general insurance cross-sales capability and services via the web based application for the intermediaries.

How We Helped

ITC Infotech has executed multiple projects associated with this application using onsite-offshore development model. These projects are as the following:

Data Capture Functionality for Solicitors
The objective of this project was to build data capture functionality in the application for capturing adequate solicitors’ details on re-mortgage applications. Due to lack of sufficient data capture, the applications were categorized as pending whilst awaiting further information leading to delays for the customers.

Fee Capitalization
The Fee Capitalization development was designed to give customer the choice to defer payment of upfront fees at point of sale, and so offer customers a mortgage that is free of upfront fees. This feature was a key enabler for the customer retention strategy by enabling the bank to offer a lower rate as well as earn more income by charging a higher fee.

Platform Migration
The objective of this project was migration of this application customer database to the group customer database. ITC Infotech has also implemented the anti-money laundering (AML) component in the application. This is used to manage the collection of proof of identity and address document details.

Business Benefits

Through a flexible resourcing and development model, ITC Infotech is successfully working with client to support the changing business requirements. Currently, ITC Infotech is involved in coding and unit testing and is soon going to be involved in design also.
The flexibility of resource ramp-up/ ramp-down with average lead-time of 2 weeks offers the client the scope of increasing or decreasing the team size as per the variation in requirements.
